Who am I and why am I here….
My name is Latrilla AKA LaLa to family and friends.
Who is LaLa? She is a city-loving girl from the DC area who happens to be silly, creative, nerdy, wonderful, beautiful, artsy, unique, crazy, humorous, goofy, intelligent, loving, deep, spiritual, just plain all over the place! Oh that would be me! Just ask my friends! I love taking pictures, knitting, reading, and sewing. I will try anything that I think I may enjoy doing (I recently joined a hiking club!).
My life also includes four children in tow-ages 12,17, 19 and 23. They are my lifeline and couldn’t see my life without them. Yeah they work their mama over at times! What kid doesn’t! Yet they are the loves of my life and couldn’t imagine life without them. I work as a mental health clinician in a local community services board and I also happen to be a licensed cosmetologist.
Why I am here…
I am a recent seminary graduate (May 2014!) It was one of the most grueling but refreshing experiences of my life. I LOVED IT! It was here that God dealt with me in so many different ways.
I have told people God broke me down to build me back up, not just for me but for you as well. It was during this time that my life purpose was being shaped and continues to be shaped. As it is taking form, I must step out and begin.
Why the beautifully redeemed?
I was given this name in January 2014 not knowing exactly what it meant until several months later. For many many years I grew up believing I was ugly, underlying untruths based on my brokenness. God told me how beautiful I was and redeemed by the best, Jesus Christ.
Life seems so crazy! And sometimes it makes me think I am crazy! Despite it all, I know that I am a beautiful creation that is embracing her flaws, beauty, eccentricity, pains, disappointments, healing…I could go on. The point is with all that is going on I AM STILL BEAUTIFUL, YOU ARE STILL BEAUTIFUL and we need to know and embrace who we truly are.
I intend to use this blog as a place to connect with other women who desire to grow and develop into who they were created to be and build a tribe of sisters, mighty and strong, as I share my life. I plan to reach you through a mix of my background in cosmetology, counseling and theology using beauty tips, personal building exercises, giveaways, readings, laughter and whatever else comes to mind.
I have so many ideas in this head but I will pace myself and see how this grows. I just want to get to know you and enjoy myself using this platform as my first steps.
I’m a sister (I WILL call you my sister and girlfriend-terms of endearment) taking one step at a time, one day at a time in this journey called LIFE! I have much love for you. So will you join me as we do life together?
I hope to see you soon!
Peace and love,
PS-And yes you may call me LaLa!
